Arms raised for voting.

In August of 2016, Donald Trump said, “I'm going to be working for you, I'm not going to have time to go play golf”. Now before we go any further, just let me say I have no problem at all with any President playing a round of golf. In fact, it's a great way to relief stress and, other than babysitting, I can't think of a more stressful job, than being President of the United States. There's certainly nothing unethical about it, but once again with all things Trumpian, it's the utter absurdity of the statement that makes it so laughable.

President Trump just got back from a 3-day golf outing at his private Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey, with a membership fee of $350,000 not counting annual dues; as Mel Brooks once said “It's good to be the King”. This is the same guy while on the campaign trail said, after becoming President he would be way too busy to take a vacation, let alone play golf. In his first 100 days in office Trump enjoyed 19 golf outings, Bill Clinton came in second with 7, Obama played 1 and George W. Bush played zero, in fact Mr. Bush only played 24 rounds of golf over 2 terms.

In all fairness, Donald Trump is not the first President to enjoy the game of golf and I'm sure he won't be the last. But he's going to have to pick up the pace if he ever wants to surpass Democratic President Woodrow Wilson for the most rounds played while in office at more than 1,200 rounds over 8 years! He even had his Secret Service agents paint his golf balls black so he could play in the snow. Republican Dwight Eisenhower played an impressive 800 games and in 1954 he had a putting green installed at the White House. The list goes on with Warren Harding, John F. Kennedy and it's even rumored that Lyndon Johnson got the votes he needed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964, wheeling and dealing on the golf course. Richard Nixon loved playing the game, but for some strange reason he had the putting green (which had been donated by the U.S. Golf Association) removed from the White House. President George H.W. Bush had it reinstalled and in 1995 Bill Clinton, who by all reports was the most fun to play golf with, had it moved to it's current location on the South Lawn.

During his eight years in office President Obama played 330 rounds of golf at a taxpayer price tag of $114 million dollars, and at last count President Trump has played 192, at just over a $104 million. This is the tit for tat world of politics, so Republicans howled like dogs at a passing train every time Obama went on vacation or set foot on a golf course. They now say it's great way for the President to get some exercise, be outside in the fresh air, clear his mind and recharge his batteries. According to Trump's handlers, he is the six-time club champion at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is the stuff of legends folks, much like Vladimir Putin scoring 10 goals in a exhibition hockey game at The Bolshoy Ice Dome in Russia! Or, who could ever forget North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong II in his very first game of golf made 11 holes-in-one, making him the greatest golfer to ever play the game.

Speaking of greatness, congratulations to the U.S. Women's Soccer Team for defeating the Netherlands and bringing home the 2019 FIFA World Cup...talk about “GIRL POWER”!!!
