“We have some exciting things on the lineup,” stated Kimber Goodwin, owner/operator of the festival. “Joe Diffie has five #1 songs and 23 Top 10 hits, it’s traditional country music at its finest. We are thrilled to have Beattyville, KY natives Donnie & Teresa from the hit show “Moonshiners” on Discovery Channel. Friday night headliner Branden Martin’s voice and music remind me of Chris Stapleton, he’s a great performer. Tyler Stephens is a new voice in country and is a Hindman, Kentucky native. The band named Unofficial features Shane Smith & Michael Chandler. Michael is from Breathitt County and Shane is just across the river from Cincinnati, but we won’t hold that against him! We have such a deep pool of talent in Kentucky and we are happy to showcase a lot of it at Hoedown this year.
Followers of the hit show “Moonshiners” on Discovery Channel, will get a chance to meet a pair of the stars, local Eastern Kentucky couple Donnie & Teresa both of Beattyville, KY. They are currently preparing for their second season on the show. Donnie Benton grew up in Old Landing, KY. His granddaddy was a moonshiner and told Donnie “there’s no good in making moonshine, so you shouldn’t do it”. Donnie did the exactly opposite of his grandfather’s advice and stated, “What better way to get someone to do something than to tell them they can’t. I think my grandpa knew that.”
Teresa Coomer Mays grew up on Log Shoal holler in Beattyville, KY. In that holler, her grandpa and great uncle made moonshine. Teresa is now learning the craft from her boyfriend and partner on the show.
Camping for the weekend is available for $70. All campsites include water and 30amp electric hookups. Reservations for campsites are currently being accepted.
