The artistic talents of faculty members from Morehead State University’s Department of Art and Design will be showcased at the annual MSU Art and Design Faculty Exhibition. It will be on display in the Golding-Yang Art Gallery of the Claypool-Young Art Building and runs from Sept. 4 through Oct. 8.

The 2019 faculty exhibit features work by full-time, adjunct and emeritus faculty. Artists include Jenny Bell, Juanita Dixon, Toni Hobbs, Dongfeng Li, Elizabeth Mesa-Gaido, Gary Mesa-Gaido, Marina Miller, Robyn Moore, Helen Otterson, Jeanne M. Petsch, Adam Yungbluth and Melissa Yungbluth.

This show is a chance for faculty to display their current work locally to both students and community members.

“We as faculty come to class and teach students how to better their work but we don’t teach what we make,” said Adam Yungbluth, professor of ceramics. “An exhibit such as this is just as important of a learning tool for the students as what we teach them in class. It gives the students a chance to see how to take what they’ve learned and apply it in other ways.”

The exhibition’s opening reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4. It is free to the public and will feature live music and refreshments. There will also be a faculty forum the following week from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the Golding-Yang Art Gallery. The exhibiting faculty members will give brief talks about their work, followed by a time where audience members are encouraged to ask questions and interact with the faculty members/artists.

The Golding-Yang Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Claypool-Young Art Building on the campus of Morehead State University. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the fall and spring semesters (excludes holidays and other University closings). Parking is available all day on Main Street and after 5 p.m. on campus.
