Berea Mayor Bruce Fraley has selected Berea’s next police chief.
Fraley announced the hiring of Walter ‘Eric’ Scott, as the next Chief of Police for the Berea Police Department. Scott has spent 10 years at the University of Kentucky Police Department, where he currently serves as a lieutenant and sergeant training coordinator.
Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. Additionally, Eric is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
“We look forward to Eric joining our city staff in mid-October, and I encourage all citizens and city staff to join me in congratulating our new Chief and welcoming him to Berea,” Fraley said.
Scott replaces David Gregory, who was hired as City Administrator recently.
Gregory followed longtime city boss Randy Stone, who announced his retirement from the city earlier this year.
Danny Brewer has been serving as interim police chief in Gregory’s absence.
