The Madison Southern Eagles (4-4, 2-1) rolled past district foe Woodford County 40-7 Friday night.
Quarterback Tobias Storm passed for 162 yards and a pair scores and rushed for 74 yards to help the Eagles to the win. Adrian Jones added 164 yards rushing with three touchdowns, and added another score receiving.
Walt Smith rushed for one score and caught a touchdown pass in the victory. Jackson Chambers added two interceptions to lead the Southern defense.
Southern returns to action Friday night when they travel to West Jessamine (0-7, 0-1) for a 7:30 game.
Pirates upended by KCD
The Berea Pirates’ seven-game winning streak ended Friday against Kentucky County Day, 36-14.
Berea held a slim lead in late in the first half until KCD scored 36 straight points to put the game away.
Quarterback Jaylen Whitaker ran for one score in the first half, and threw a touchdown pass to Timmy Thompson in the second half to lead Berea (6-1, 0-1).
Berea returns to action Friday night as it travels to Eminence (6-1, 1-0) for a 7:30 game.
Southern teams fall in region
The Madison Southern boys’ and girls’ soccer team’s season came to an end during the first round of the 11th Region Tournament.
The Eagles fell 4-0 to Dunbar in the region contest. Late last week, the Eagles knocked off Madison Central, 3-2, to capture the district title.
“The game was intense,” coach Andrew Lunsford said. “Our youth showed early and our guys were pretty nervous in the first half.”
Samuel Lee, Garrett Wickersham and Francisco Aguilar each scored goals in the district title game. Ru Lemmer added an assist.
The Eagles finished their season with a 12-6-3 record.
The Lady Eagles lost 4-0 to Garrard County in the region tournament.
Last week the Lady Eagles were defeated by Madison Central, 1-0, in the district championship game.
The Lady Eagles’ season ends with a 7-11-1 mark.
Eagles fall to LexCath
The Madison Southern Eagles (22-4) saw their 13-match win streak come to an end at Lexington Catholic, losing 3 games to 2 last week.
Sarah Mitchell recorded 17 kills and 21 digs, while Alyssa Evans finished with 10 kills and 17 digs.
Kyla Atkins added 32 assists and 12 dig. Kennedy Easterling finished with 24 assists.
