The Madison Southern Eagles took to the gridiron for preseason scrimmage against the Great Crossing Warhawks out of Georgetown. The effort put forth was pleasing to head coach Jon Clark. “Our defense was swarming to the ball and I like the intensity our guys played with.” The Eagles scored on their first three possessions, highlighted by a pair of scoring passes - one to Cameron Holbrook and one to Jayshaun Ethridge - by quarterback Walt Smith. Clark said the team is young, but the talent is there and the 2019 Eagles have the potential to be something special. The team is led by a group of unselfish seniors, Clark added. “Our seniors are working hard to be the best leaders they can be, and I love how our players are willing to take full responsibility for their successes and failures,” he said. “When a group of men can do that consistently, a great deal of growth and success is inevitable.” Madison Southern kicks off the 2019 season versus Tates Creek in the Roy Kidd Bowl and Madison Central on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles will host Southwestern (Aug. 30), Danville (Sept. 13), Collins (Sept. 27), Woodford County (Oct. 11) and Boyle County (Nov. 1). They will visit Madison Central (Sept. 6), Pulaski County (Sept. 20), East Jessamine (Oct. 4) and West Jessamine (Oct. 18).
