“It’s a passion” echoed from Natasha Bowling, owner of Dry Bones Strength and Conditioning, when asked about training and coaching.  “I’ve always wanted to open a fitness facility that caters to every fitness level.” Dry Bones isn’t your typical globo type gym with hundreds of different machines; let’s face it no one really knows how to use.  “We use barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, and your body. That’s all you really need.” stated Bowling. A typical session only last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, which involves strength training; I.e. bench press, deadlift, squat, overhead press, snatch, clean and jerk, and a WOD (workout of the day).  The WOD in complex terms is constantly varied functional fitness performed at high intensity. In simpler terms “we’re going to use movements that you do every day, but do them faster” explains Bowling, who holds several training certificates that include CrossFit level 1 trainer, Rule of Three from Westside Barbell, AFPA nutrition, and CrossFit Gymnastics.

Natasha’s husband Bobby, who also holds a Level 1 certificate from CrossFit, emphasized the community-based approach to fitness.  “We know how intimidating going to a gym can be; that’s why we offer small group training that allows Natasha to focus on your specific needs. You’ll never have to worry about “how” to do an exercise, or what exercise to do because it’s already planned out and explained before the class starts.”

Natasha exclaimed “We just want people to become better versions of themselves, at their own pace.  We want the grandma to be able to pick up her grandbaby, the mom to be able to lift a case of water off the floor, or the dad to be able to play a pick-up game of basketball with their son or daughter.”

Dry Bones will host an open house this Saturday, October 12th at 10am at 22 Kentucky Highway 28 in Booneville (Old Paul Campbell Garage).  There will be an open community workout that anyone can participate in or just watch.  Natasha will be on hand to answer any questions about memberships, nutrition, and training.  If you can’t make it to the open house follow Dry Bones on Facebook @drybonesSC for schedules, class times, and membership fees.
