Middle School Lady Owls basketball team traveled to Jackson County to take on the Lady Generals.  The 7th grade ladies lost in a close one to the Lady Generals, but our 8th grade ladies dominated the Lady Generals from the tip winning by 15pts.  The 8th grade team was paced by Carly Smith with a game high 30 pts, 4 asst, and 3 stl.  Shelby Murray turned in a solid performance with 10 pts and a game high 14 reb.  
The Lady Owls had a quick turnaround to play district rival Powell County on Thursday evening. The Lady Owls did not fair so well in the 6th grade game, however coach Smith is pleased with how well the 6th grade is improving.  Our 7th grade led for 3 quarters before falling in the final quarter to take the loss.  Addie Terry led all scorers in the 7th grade game.  Our 8th grade continued their winning ways by winning the 8th grade game by 2.  Carly Smith led all scorers in the 8th grade game,  The Lady Owls will be back in action Tuesday September 3rd at Estill County, Thursday September 5th vs Mountain View and Saturday September 7th at Evarts.  
Owsley Volleyball continues to improve in every facet of the game.  This week saw the Volley Owls make the short trip to Oneida to take on the the Lady Mountaineers.  The Lady Owls played well while missing some key players but eventually fell 25-15, 25-6, 25-23.  The Volley Owls continued their road show by traveling to another 13th region power Jackson Co.  The Volley Owls put up a solid showing but also fell 15-14, 25-14, 25-14.  The Volley Owls will be back in action Tuesday September 3rd against regional power Leslie County in the first round of the All "A" Classic the game will be hosted by Owsley County beginning at 6:00.  The Volley Owls will then turn their attention to another 13th region contender as they travel to Clay County on Thursday September 5th.  They will finish up their week  Friday September 6th traveling to district rival Lee Co. 
Coach Mike Mason and the Owsley Golf team is off to a hot start.  This week saw the Golf team bury Oneida Baptist by 6 strokes.  Followed up by a rout of Powell County.
