The Owsley County School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 6:00 pm.  The meeting was called to order by Joyce Campbell who is the Board Chairperson. A motion was made and carried to review/approve the agenda as presented.  Another motion was made and carried to review/approve the board meeting minutes from the February 12, 2019 meeting. A motion was made and carried to approve the construction project updates.  Then the board made a motion and it carried to approve the financial report. A motion was made and carried to approve online viewing of bank statements at Farmers State Bank. This is to view them, not to do anything else to them.  This means that the finance personnel can look at the statements earlier instead of waiting days to get a copy. A motion was also made and carried to approve White & Associates, Artie White as auditor for the OC School Board.

    As of March 12, 2019, the last day of school for the kids is May 23, 2019.  Closing day for teachers is May 24, 2019. There is always the possibility that we could miss more days.  The board decided to leave all other days the same. The board will take another look at the school calendar at the April meeting.  They will set graduation at that time.

    There was some talk about how the juniors had taken their ACT earlier in the day.  The OC Youth Services Center provided breakfast for the juniors. Vanessa Johnson was commended for her great help with the ACT.  There was a couple of new students and their first day of school with us, they were taking the ACT.

    There was a motion made that carried to approve a fundraiser for the middle school baseball team to sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts, approve some overnight/out of state trips (including senior trip), and approve the use of our facilities.   The board has also employed Buddy Cornwell as the head coach for softball, Audrea Lany Marshall as assistant softball coach and Shon Sebastian as assistant baseball coach at the high school. Tonya Fox is also going to be our Facilitator of Student Achievement/Instructional Supervisor.

    Dr. Bobrowski informed the board that OC Schools has gotten final approval to purchase a new bus.  The order has been placed. Head Start is also trying to get funding for another bus.

    A motion was made and carried to adjourn the meeting.
