PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Even as UPIKE athletic teams are either resting up or training for the season ahead, the Bears keep pulling in awards over summer.

Two UPIKE faculty members earned off-season awards from the Mid-South Conference for their service to the conference and UPIKE athletics.

Pikeville Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) and Associate Professor of Mathematics Howard Francis was named the MSC's FAR of the Year, while University Registrar Gia Potter was named to the MSC's Faculty Team of the Year. This is the first time either Francis or Potter had received their respective award.

"We have some of the best faculty around on UPIKE's campus and these awards signify that," Director of Athletics Kelly Wells said. "Howard and Gia have long been deserving of these awards and are great representatives of this outstanding institution."

Both were nominated for their diligent and outstanding service to their university and the MSC by assisting their athletic departments in many aspects, including eligibility, student affairs, academic progress, among others.
