The Jackson County Generals’ Boy’s Golf season is now under way. The season has started successfully for our kids and our program. Saturday, August 3rd, the Generals traveled to London Country Club to play in the 2019 North Laurel Jaguar Invitational. The Generals were led that day by senior Jayden Baldwin who fired a 3 over 74. Jayden finished second in a playoff for the low individual of the tournament that day.
Monday the Generals hosted our first annual Jackson Energy Invitational. The turnout for our tournament was a major success and we would love to thank all our sponsors who helped us host the event, and would especially like to thank the parents for all their hard work and dedication to making the event a success. The Generals were also successful in the course of play that day with a strong third place finish in a field of 14 teams. The Generals had a team score of 331. Jayden Baldwin led the group with 75, Blaine Miller 80. Jasper York 86, Carson Miller 90, Josiah Tyra 102. The Rockcastle County Rockets placed second with a score of 317 and the Clay County Tigers won the event with a terrific score 292. The event also awarded the excellent individual play of the top 5 individual player finishes. Ethan and Eli Fischer of Corbin finished 4 and 5 with a score of 73. CJ Corum of Clay County finished 3rd with a 72. Jakob Begley placed second with a two under par round of 68, and the first place finisher was Zach Watterson of Lee County who burnt the course up with a blistering 6 under 64. We would like to thank all teams and participants for making this event happen and work efficiently.
The Generals will next be in action when their conference play begins Monday, August 12th.
