Thunderstruck at the JC Fair.tif

Approximately 2,500 people were in attendance when the Ac/DC Tribute Band "Thunderstruck" took the stage on Water Street during the 2019 Jackson County Fair!

The community celebrated the 2019 Labor Day weekend with a wonderful Homecoming Fair! Over the course of an action packed week of events and activities a record number of people attended the 2019 Jackson County Fair. There was something for everyone... young & old! Clowns and magic shows! Rock & Roll, Bluegrass, & Gospel! The Jackson County Fair Board with the help of dedicated sponsors such as PRTC, Jackson Energy, the Jackson County Fiscal Court and the Cityof McKee have turned the annual fair into a regional event. People traveled from the surrounding counties to be part of the 2019 Jackson County Fair. Many said they had a wonderful time and planned to come back again next year!

On Saturday the annual Kiwanis Homecoming Parade had folks lined up along Hwy 421 from Bond Memorial Park on the south end of town all the way to Rite Aid and Hometown Pharmacy on the north end. It took almost half an hour to just get all the parade participants on the road after they had lined up for the parade. Prizes were awarded for the best entries in the parade. PRTC won the business category, Deer Stable Baptist Church won the Church/civic Group category, JCMS Football won the school category, and Tyner Elementary Cheer was the overall winner. Category winners received $100.00, while the overall winner got $500.00.

Jackson County Fair Board Chairman Brian Murray reported, “The 2019 Jackson County Fair was quite possibly the most attended fair in our county’s history, with over 4,000 people coming to it over the 3 nights of awesome entertainment on the Water Street Stage! We believe it also was one of, if not THE best fair we’ve ever had! To have the diversity of Jeff Parker and Company on Gospel/Bluegrass night, Thunderstruck on Friday night, and The Cleverlys on Saturday night was unprecedented in Jackson County, as well as all the other great acts that performed! We are very thankful to every person that attended, our sponsors, first responders, volunteers, vendors, and everybody that was involved in making this fair a huge success! A huge shout out to our platinum sponsors, Jackson County Fiscal Court, The City of McKee, PRTC, Jackson Energy, Advent Health of Manchester, the Don Franklin family of dealerships, Chiropractic Health Solutions, Kentucky Farm Bureau, and State Representative Robert Goforth! We are looking forward to bringing you a bigger and better Jackson County Fair in 2020!”
