Each year, students all across the state participate in K-Prep testing. The state uses this data to assess how well Kentucky elementary, middle, and high schools are performing. This test is a challenging assessment which not only measures achievement in reading and math, but also social studies, science, and writing. Students across the state work tirelessly to acquire the knowledge needed to perform at a proficient or distinguished level, as well as to achieve growth goals from the previous year.
Achieving new top state goals is not only challenging, but rare. The state of Kentucky began a new process to measure student and school performance. This new system is rated by a star system with 5 stars being the top score. As all of the scores are being released to the public on October 1st, we at McKee Elementary would like to congratulate all of the county schools on their K-Prep performances. Our county is truly blessed with gifted students, educators, teaching assistants, administrators, bus drivers, janitors, cooks, and support staff of all kinds.
Over the last few years, we at McKee Elementary have strived to continue our
quest for excellence. The students, teachers, and support staff have worked steadfastly to set goals and achieve them. We have encouraged all stakeholders to challenge themselves by dreaming big. Perseverance has been our theme, and hard work has been an expectation, not a request. Teamwork has become our culture, and through positive relationships, we have moved mountains. With that said, we are proud to announce that hard work truly pays off. McKee Elementary has achieved the top state rating of 5 stars.
We can not express our excitement about this accomplishment. To be named a 5-star school is a distinction reserved for only 37 out 725 elementary schools. We realize this is not only amazing but a true honor. Being ranked in the top 5% of the state elementary schools is not an easy task and we are determined to continue are high-achieving status. We have always felt that McKee had all of the components to be as good as any school in the state. To have this mindset solidified is a true illustration of setting a goal, believing you can achieve it, and making it happen. We would like to commend our students, teachers, parents, support staff, and all of those who are part of our McKee family. As we often tell our students, “The sky’s the limit!” here at McKee.
Thanks to our superintendent, central office staff, our board of education, and all those who work behind the scenes and in the trenches to make our school a successful, nurturing, positive environment for our students. We look forward to many more years of success!
