Lendon Powell was born in March 10, 1930 in Jackson County to Owen & Lola (Smith) Powell. For a short time, he worked at the Blue Grass Army Depot and was a mail carrier from Kirby Knob, KY to Big Hill, KY. After that he went to Dayton, OH and worked for the railroad at Union Station in 1939 and 1950. After that he got a job at Rike Kumler Dept. Store and worked there for 29 years. After that he worked for Roberd’s Dept. Store for a short time. He also worked as a florist for 2 years before retiring and moving back to KY. Lendon was married to the late Marlene (Lakes) Powell for 53 beautiful years. He and Marlene had a son, Anthony Powell, which preceded them in death. He had the following brothers and sisters: Russell Powell of Sand Gap, KY, Ora Lee (Powell) Isaacs of Inkster, MI, Wayne Powell of Lexington, KY, Randal Powell of Kirby Knob, KY, Bonnie Faye (Powell) Isaacs of Hisel, KY and Diane Sue (Powell) Hubbard of Hamilton, OH.
Private burial was held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Berea Cemetery. Lakes Funeral Home in McKee was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
