Has the Honey Festival buzzed away?

At last year’s Honey Festival, many people took advantage of the

sunny Saturday to enjoy 4-H Corn Dogs at the Breathitt County Extension Office

on Main Street. From left to right, they are: Pam Rice, Angie Rice and Geraldine

It appeared as if the Breathitt County Honey Festival had lost its hive in Jackson late last week, but things seem to be swarming daily to keep the buzz alive.

After most of the current festival committee members resigned as of last Friday (June 7), the yearly buzz downtown looked to be in danger of being swatted away. Originally set for August 30- September 2, the festivities have been a Labor Day weekend tradition in the city and county since the late 1970s. This year would mark the 42nd Annual Honey Festival.
