Hundreds will descend upon the waters of Horse Creek at the Ponderosa Pines for the annual Black Gold Shootout SASS starting Thursday at 9 a.m.

This event draws hundreds of tourists into Clay County and gets bigger with more participants each year.

Names like “Trail Bandit”, “Tucker T. Fudpucker”, “Wild West Belesco” are just a few of the 100 registered to shoot at the event.

Things will kick-off Thursday with a Cowboy Yard Sale that will run throughout the day.  The Wild Bunch Match will run from 9 a.m. to noon with side matches going from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Long Range Rifle will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Pro-Steel Carbine from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Warm up stage will go from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the Hillbilly Olympics running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Meet and Greet and Potluck Dinner will be at 7 p.m. with the Hillbilly Spell ‘N Bee at 8 p.m.  The featured band Thursday night will be Bourbon Branch at 8 p.m.

Friday’s events will kick-off with five stages at 9:30 a.m.

Team Match and Hillbilly Olympics with Ringer’s Humdinger will follow lunch.  Long Range pistol will be from 2:30 p.m to 4 p.m.  Pot Shot Parker and his bullwhip at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.  Side matches will start at 8 p.m. with a Sock Hop to follow.

Saturday’s events will start at 9:30 a.m. with match start (five stages).  After lunch, a Man-on-Man Challenge and Hillbilly Olympics will follow. A Hula Hoop contest will be held with a Lassiter Fast Draw Competition at 6 p.m.  Brew Wars, Hushpuppy Wars and Dessert Wars will be at 6 p.m.

Dinner will be served Saturday at 7 p.m. with Main Match Awards at 8 p.m. The featured band Saturday night will be Blackwater Desperado and Milkbone starting at 9 p.m.
