Mediation was granted in a nearly seven-year-old murder case Monday in Clay Circuit Court.
Honorable Circuit Judge Oscar G. House granted the request to mediate the case with hopes of having it resolved.
Joshua Shawn Morsch and Kathy Stewart, both of Belles Fork, are charged in the December 6, 2012 death of 74-year-old Earl Woods.
Morsch faces charges of murder, robbery 1st degree and theft by unlawful taking/disposition of a firearm. Stewart is charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm, complicity to commit murder, complicity to commit robbery 1stand complicity to commit theft by unlawful taking/disposition of a firearm.
The two-stand accused of entering the home of Woods, who was in a wheelchair, on Belles Fork. Police say Woods put up a fight and Morsch allegedly beat him in the head multiple times with a ball peen hammer before cutting his throat.
The two will appear in Clay Circuit Court again on December 2nd to see how the case has progressed.
