UPDATE 2:25 p.m. The manhunt for two people allegedly involved in a shooting has been called off as police have learned the victim shot herself with the sawed off shotgun. The investigation is continuing.
UPDATE 9:37 p.m. U.S. 421 south at Elk Creek is now open in both directions. The manhunt is still underway as police are dealing with a rainstorm in the area.
UPDATE 8:32 P.M.-Police agencies are searching residences on Elk Creek as they're receiving tips on possible locations of the subjects.
Police agencies are asking the public to stay away from an area off U.S. 421 south while they search for two men involved in the shooting of a female.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. with a female being shot in the leg with a 4-10 sawed off shotgun. The alleged shooters fled the scene on foot and entered the hills around the US 421 entrance of the Clay-Leslie Industrial Park.
A manhunt is now underway for the two men and they are described as not wearing shirts and one has tattoos on his chest.
The female has a severe injury, according to reports.
The Big Creek Fire and Rescue Squad has been called out to shut down the roadway in both directions.
The men are considered armed and dangerous.
The Clay County Sheriff's Department, Manchester City Police and Kentucky State Police are responding to the scene.
