Some exciting things are going on in Manchester/Clay County, according to Pam Mathis, grant writer and project administrator for the city of Manchester, fiscal court and board of education.
Mathis said her office has currently applied for several grants for various agencies in the county.
“We have some good positive things going on right now,” Mathis said.
Some of the projects applied for are:
-A taser grant for the Clay County Detention Center.
-New body armor, radios and a repeater for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.
-Transportation grant to pave the walking trail and extend the trail to Advent Health Hospital once the Memorial Drive road project is complete.
-$50,000 grant through the University of Kentucky to help revitalize downtown.
-A grant to provide new lighting and security cameras at schools through Homeland Security.
“We are already underway with one downtown revitalization project currently,” Mathis said.
