An Owenton man led police on a high-speed chase along KY. 80 into Crawfish in the early morning hours of Saturday morning.

City police officer Antonio Dodson saw a vehicle disregard a stop sign on Ky. 80.  The 2012 silver Kia then accelerated its speed in a reckless manner, according to Dodson’s citation.

The vehicle then entered Crawfish Road and continued to a residence and went through the front yard and struck a tree.

The driver of the vehicle then attempted to flee the scene on foot.  He was later found in a creek.

Dodson charged Jonathon Bowling, 29, of 4030 Breck Road, Owenton, Ky. with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, criminal mischief 2nd, disregarding stop sign, failure to maintain insurance, failure to produce an insurance card and failure to improper signal.

A passenger in the Bowling vehicle, Chelsea Cawood, 29, of East Bernstadt, was charged with fleeing and evading police (on foot), resisting arrest and public intoxication controlled substance.

Cawood also fled the vehicle after striking the tree and was found hiding in the creek.

Both were lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
