The Tigers (12-11) are an enigma. They have the talent to make a run in the regional tournament, while also are inconsistent enough to possibly not be there. Faced with four tough games, two on the road and two at home, Clay will need to push themselves to the limit to see what they’re made of before postseason play begins in the coming weeks.
Barbourville – (13-10) The Tigers previously defeated Clay County 10-6 in Manchester recently, leaving a sour taste in Coach Jason Smith and Co.’s mouths. Clay County typically owns Barbourville, however the opposing Tigers have more than stepped their game up this season, shocking the 13thregion with their solid defense and strong pitching. Look for this game to have a tad bit more intensity than usual. This contest is at Barbourville, May 9th, with first pitch set for 5:30PM.
Letcher Central – (11-10) The Cougars are near the middle of the pack in the 14thregion. They never quite reached their potential, but have struggled throughout the course of the 2019 campaign. Clay will have to be prepared to face a humble, but hungry Letcher Central squad, as they desperately need a signature win as they gear up for postseason play. This game is May 11th, at Clay County, with first pitch set for 4:00PM.
Bell County – (6-10) All is not well on Log Mountain, as the Bobcats are one of the mountains worst teams with a dismal 6-10 record. That being said, they can still sneak up on anyone given the right circumstance, providing certain things go their way. Look for the Bobcats to give Clay County a few rough innings, with the Tigers most likely pulling away as the contest rages on. This game is May 13th, at Clay County, with first pitch set for 6:00PM.
Middlesboro – (10-9) The Yellow Jackets fell to the Tigers 10-2 a few weeks back, and have since went on a tear. Riding a four-game win streak, the Jackets will look to avenge their loss to the Tigers and continue their hot streak as they too, gear up for postseason play. Expect Coach John Smith to have his group fired up for this one, as it’s at Clay County, May 14th, with first pitch set for 6:00PM.
