Clay County (23-2) is sitting pretty with the best record in the region, ranked in the top 15 statewide, and still boast the same expectations as they had in the preseason. Clay, is now having opponents cancel simply because “we don’t feel it’s necessary to come play”. I think you, the reader, should loosely translate that. The Tigers will have five tough games this week, weather permitting.
Harlan County – (12-4) The Lady Black Bears are one of the top teams in the mountains, and for good reason. They’re solid from top to bottom, and have gathered a pool of experienced leaders, with hungry underclassmen. Clay County will have to be sharp, focused, and on their A game, because Harlan County will come to play. This game is at Clay County, May 9th, with first pitch set for 6:00PM.
Mercer County – (9-16) The Mercer County Titans record doesn’t show just what this team is capable of. Clay County should handle their business accordingly, however Mercer plays tough competition night in, night out. This game will be much tougher than many would think, and the record of Mercer shouldn’t sway your opinion. This game is May 10th, at Pulaski County, with first pitch slated for 8:00PM.
Rockcastle County – (17-9) The Rockets handed Clay their first loss of the season, and first loss since Corbin of last year. It’s safe to assume that the Tigers will have revenge on their minds. Rockcastle, started the season as one of the top teams in the state, have lost a game here, and a game there to account for their nine losses. However, this team can flat out play. Expect a postseason type of environment, as this should promise to be a good game. This contest is May 11th, at Pulaski County, with first pitch slated for 10:00AM.
George Rogers Clark – (10-12) The Lady Cardinals fight for their lives almost weekly in the talent filled 10thregion, and they are battle-tested and hardened. Clay County should expect to have their hands full, as GRC will put you to the test with their fundamentally sound style of play, and strong defense. This game is May 11th, at Pulaski County, with first pitch slated for 2:30PM.
Middlesboro – (record not posted) The Lady Yellow Jackets will travel to Manchester in hopes to most likely not be ten-run ruled, and play a full contest. Clay County doesn’t overlook anyone, and they will do everything they can to decimate another 13thregion opponent. This game is at Clay County, May 13th, with first pitch set for 6:00PM.
