Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies Elijah Broughton and Bobby Jones received information that a mother had left her seven-year-old daughter with a non-compliant sex offender on Tuesday, October 29.
Deputies immediately located the juvenile and Michael Dale Campbell, 35 of Flat Lick, in the Knox County Detention Center parking lot. After confirming he was not registered, he was arrested and charged with Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
Knox County Court Security Officer Jesse Smith then arrested the juvenile’s mother, Whitney Lawson, for Endangering Welfare of a Minor, two Knox County Bench Warrants for Flagrant Non-Support and Contempt of Court charges on Wednesday, October 30.
Lawson was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Department of Child Base Services was notified and the child was released to a family member.
