The Barbourville Independent School Board went into executive session during Thursday night’s meeting for preliminary discussions relating to Superintendent Kay Dixon’s performance this year. 

The Board voted to extend the superintendent’s contract for two more years and also thanked Dixon for all her hard work and dedication to the school district. 

In response, Dixon expressed appreciation for this vote by saying, “I have been extremely fortunate in my career to work with leaders who believe our kids can move mountains.” She added, “I am honored that they also believe in my leadership and abilities to continue to move our district forward. Our kids deserve to be empowered by knowledge and experiences and I am excited to continue to work side by side with our board and school staff to make this happen.”

In other news, the board voted on the following items:

Approved MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) for Gear Up Program with Berea College

Approved MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for Dual Credit Program with Union College

Approved Senior Class College Visit to LMU with Gear Up Program.
