Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to complaints of drug activity at a Bryants Store residence on Friday. Deputies Mikey Ashurst and Bobby Jones arrived to the residence located on Four Mile Hollow Road.
While making contact with the owner, Deputy Ashurst detected a strong odor of alleged marijuana coming from inside the residence.
During the investigation, deputies located a clear plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, several small pink plastic bags, syringes and a set of digital scales. Deputies also located an indoor grow operation containing 10 marijuana plants and a shotgun.
Denny R. King, 52 of Bryants Store, was arrested and charged with trafficking in controlled substance - first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia and cultivating marijuana - over five plants.
A female present at the residence, Brittany Cox, 22 of Bryants Store, was also arrested on a Knox County Circuit Court Bench Warrant for a Parole Violation.
Both King and Cox were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
King is being held on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a December 3 court appearance. Cox is being held without bond due to the nature of her charges.
Barbourville City Officer Carl Middleton assisted in the arrests.
