Ida Mae Powers, 93 of Miamisburg, Ohio died Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Ida Mae was born December 30, 1925 in Knox County, Kentucky and spent her childhood there. Her parents were George West and Ida Belle Hampton West. In 1946, Ida Mae was united in marriage to Frank Burton Powers until his death in 2008. After World War II, Ida Mae and Frank moved from Knox County, Kentucky to Miamisburg, Ohio. Ida Mae and Frank had two sons, Ron and Frank.
Ida was a member of the First Baptist Church of Miamisburg, Ohio. Faith and family were both extremely important to her. Ida Mae “Never meet a stranger.” She was extremely friendly, outgoing and social. She dearly loved her sisters and brothers. She also loved her daughters-in-law, Sherry and Melissa. One of Ida Mae’s favorite pastimes was quilting.
Ida Mae was preceded in death by her Mother and Father: George West and Ida Belle Hampton West; by her brothers: Roy West, Floyd West, Reed West and Ed West; by her sisters: Helen Dye, Irene Noe and Lucille Noe; and by her grandson, Blake Powers.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her sons Ron Powers and his wife, Sherry, of Miamisburg, Ohio and by her son, Frank Powers and his wife, Melissa, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Tracey Powers and Ryan Powers of Atlanta, Georgia, and Brittany (Sean) Hopkins of Miamisburg, Ohio. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Powers will he held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel at 3:30 PM, with Reverend Carson Mitchell officiating. Interment will be at the Sowders Cemetery in Artemus, Kentucky. Friends may call on the Powers family on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at 3:30 PM.
