As Spring and Summer approach quickly, the Barbourville Tourism and Recreation committee have been working hard to prepare for the many activities this year holds. They are busy, planning events for families all around to enjoy in Barbourville.
“We want to keep the community involved,” Barbourville Tourism Director Denise Wainscott said, “and we also want them to enjoy the activities that are offered in town.”
Knox Street Thunder is starting in April which will be every first Saturday of the month. The event will start from 5 pm to 10 pm and will feature local DJ, Jerad Baker, for folks to enjoy music as they watch the car show.
The RedBud Warm-Up Ride will be April 12 located on 310 College Street in Barbourville. Registration Opens at 10 am with a start time at noon.
The RedBud Spring Festival will be at the Knox County Extension Pavilion on April 13 beginning at 10 am. The event will feature local, homemade arts and crafts. A variety of books, jewelry, paintings, quilts, and more will be presented too, ready for purchase.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Barbourville City Park will start at 1 pm on April 20, weather permitting.
The Knox County Unite Fishing tournament is scheduled for April 20, located at Laurel Lake, Grove Marina.
Last but certainly not least, the KCBS BBQ Cook-Off Competition and Festival is scheduled for June 14 and June 15. The events will be located at Thompson RV Park in Barbourville.
