Barbourville City Council met for a special called meeting on Monday evening, August 5.
The purpose of this special meeting was to conduct the reading of Ordinance no. 2019-4. This ordinance approved one [or more] leases for the financing of a new fire truck for Barbourville Fire Department. Doug Dozier, Primary Fire Chief explained, “We needed a new fire truck because the one that’s being replaced is a 1988 model.” He added, “It’s important to keep our equipment updated for the city of Barbourville.” The estimated cost for the new truck is $450,000-500,000.
Mayor David Thompson, cited the ordinance by saying: “The City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the Fire Department to proceed with this project.”
The Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts and the Kentucky Association of Counties Finance Corporation will finance the new firetruck.
