Knox County Central Elementary celebrated the Top 5 students in each grade [Kindergarten through 6th Grade] on Friday, March 15.
Students who made outstanding gains in Reading and Math on the I-Ready Winter Diagnostic were given the opportunity to go on a trip to 2 Amigos restaurant as a reward for their hard working efforts.
“We started this recognition as a way to hopefully motivate all the students to do their best.” Principal Eric Hubbard of Knox Central Elementary said, “However, students that are not in the Top 5 still get recognized for showing great growth at our monthly Panther Way Assembly.”
The I-Ready Diagnostic is an assessment Knox Central Elementary gives in the Fall, Winter, and Spring to see where students stand in Reading and Math.
According to Hubbard, this assessment also gives teachers individualized instructions for each student. As a result, each student has the opportunity to perform at their highest ability. The assessment also helps the teachers predict and prepare for KPREP.
“We are super proud of all of them and we reward our students who work hard in the classroom with events like today,“ Principal Hubbard of Knox Central said, “At Central Elementary we have the best of the best and today we got to highlight some of those students.”
