The Barbourville Lady Tigers are coming off back-to-back winless seasons, but their new coach, Rachel Andrews is excited to watch her team grow.
"I'm very excited," Andrews said. "We have shown huge growths since we started practicing. Volleyball is a new sport for a lot of these girls, so everything that we have accomplished already has made myself and the girls eager to see what the season has in store."
Andrews has talked with her team about leadership roles.
"April Roark and Lexi Woolum are two of my big leaders as we head into the season," she said. "April and Lexi always give 100 percent and strive to make the team better."
Andrews feels that the team has made a lot of improvements and is looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish this year.
"The entire team has improved tremendously," she said. "Everyone has broken down the skills and continuously worked on those specific skills to improve."
As of now Andrews says her most improved players are Chloe Riley, Kara Partin, and Raegan Howard.
"They are always at practice 20 minutes before anxious to see what awaits that day," she said. "They have taken every piece of advice and pushed themselves to become better volleyball players."
Andrews knows this season is going to be a lot of building and learning with new young players.
"Our goals are to win some matches this year, to do so we will take each day as a learning experience and continuously learn from the day before." she said.
