Carl Varney with Knox County UNITE spoke to Union College’s freshman class on Tuesday morning, September 3.
Varney warned students about health risks and the dangers associated with the latest ‘vaping epidemic.’ “It wasn’t a presentation with me pointing my finger and saying, ‘I caught you vaping and you need to stop!’” Varney noted. “I was putting myself in their shoes, giving them scenarios to think about, and letting them know why it’s important to stay away from vaping.”
The presentation was part of an endeavor for Knox County UNITE and Drug Free Communities to keep Knox County youth free from substance abuse and criminal deeds.
“The students stayed engaged the entire time,” added Dr. Kathy Walczak, Associate Professor of Psychology. “I think we had a wonderful presentation this morning.”
