Darla Faith Parker-Terrell, age 70, of Barbourville passed away Saturday, surrounded by son and his wife at their home. She was born on October 27, 1948 to the late Ruby L. Cobb at Hubbs Creek, Ky. On December 6, 2008 she was united in marriage to Jack Ray Terrell who survives. She was a retired Bank Teller of 45 years at Commercial Bank and a member of Swan Pond Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Church Choir and Church Treasurer. She was saved and Baptized at Poplar Creek Baptist Church in 1965. She attended Union College and in 1971 graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business. She loved to read the Bible, doing her hourly devotion every morning. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren!
Besides her mother she was preceded in death by a sister: Julie Cobb.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Ray Terrell of Barbourville; her son, James David Parker and wife Heather of Barbourville; her grandchildren; Jonah, Jaxon, Jaelyn, Kage and Konner; her first husband, Jay Parker of Barbourville. Plus a host of other dear relatives and friends are left to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Darla Parker-Terrell were 1:00 PM Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the Swan Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Deland and Rev. Terry Broughton officiating. Burial followed in the Ketchen Cemetery at Bryants Store with Brad Shields, Scotty Partin, Derrick Belcher, Craig Mills, Alan Carmack, Michael Mays, Jon Collinsworth and Jimmy Hinkle Sr serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Dennis Gibson, Jay Parker, Bill Barnes and Ted Merida.
The family received friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hopper Funeral Home and after 11:00 AM Thursday until the funeral hour at Swan Pond Baptist Church.
