Former Knox Central Panther and 13th Region Player of the Year, Markelle Turner has committed to Motlow State and will soon live out his dream of playing college basketball. Turner graduated last year from Knox Central High School and was courted by several Division I schools, including; Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Murray State, Louisville and Northern Kentucky. Turner was unable to attend college this season due to some academic issues, but has been spending his time working on and off the court. "I never gave up on my dream," Turner said. "I've been working out almost everyday. I've took over 1,000 shots everyday so I would be ready." Turner met Charles Hickman while playing for the Bluegrass Bulls and Hickman (Kentucky Flash coach) reached out to Motlow State to take a look at Turner. "I wanted to help him because I saw the passion and hunger that he has for the game," Hickman said. "I love his game; he is a lefty like myself. He can shoot it well and can definitely get to the basket. He is very smart on the court and a nightmare to guard." Turner was excited when he got the offer from Motlow State, which is a junior college that has sent several players to the Division I ranks. "I was thrilled," he said. "I was ready to lace my shoes up. I'm so excited to play at the college level. The coaches told me that they like that I can score the ball at will and they know I can be a dynamic scorer." Turner has a message for all of the people that have been asking about him and his future. "Be patient," he said. "I'm doing everything I can to reach my dream of playing DI basketball. I'm going to give my family and my fans everything they want."
