July Fourth is such a fun holiday. Every year my friends and family always get together at my dad’s house for a big cookout and fireworks. I don’t know about you, but I will always cherish the memory of going to the firework stands last minute to see if you can get any good deals. Then we would come home and eat and have a firework display in the road in front of the house. One of the best parts that is tradition on the Fourth at my house is the sweet treat at the end of the meal. This week I thought I would share with you our red, white and blue dessert!
American Flag Fruit Pizza
Ingredients: 1 roll of sugar cookie dough, 1 eight-ounce package of cream cheese softened, 1/3 cup of sugar, ½ a teaspoon of vanilla, 1 packaged of strawberries, 1 package of blueberries
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a rectangular cookie sheet cooking spray. Break apart cookie dough and place pieces across cookie sheet. Press the dough evenly across the bottom of the pan within a ½ inch of the edge of the pan. Bake 16 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth for the icing component of this fruit pizza. Once crust is cooled, spread icing evenly across the sugar cookie crust.
Wash and rinse the fruit. Quarter the strawberries and leave the blue berries whole. On the cookie place the fruit in an American flag pattern or in red and blue horizontal stripes. Enjoy!
